Data Erasure & WEEE Disposal
When disposing of IT hardware, the process is counted as WEEE; Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. This includes the requirement to adhere to the WEEE Directive to ensure waste is disposed of properly, ethically and in a way that’s as environmentally-friendly as possible.
Procurri Success Story
60 SECONDS ON PROCURRI
Procurri are an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company, so compliance with the WEEE Directive forms a core part of our values under our Quality and Environmental Management Systems and Processes work. We are audited regularly both internally and externally to keep tabs on this work, so customers can rest assured that everything is being managed to the highest of standards.
Our Treatment Facility for end-of-life IT hardware is WEEE authorised, so every piece of kit under our care is managed in an entirely secure and compliant way. Any equipment that cannot be reused is sorted and treated at this facility before being transported in secure dedicated vehicles to our recycling partner.
There are frequently stories in the press on data breaches and security concerns regarding company’s IT usage and practices, and for many, there is no greater risk than that incurred when disposing of equipment. For businesses, much more is required than simply hitting ‘delete’ and wiping memory; but rather a full and thorough secure data erasure process must be put into place to ensure that nothing on the machines can be recovered. This is not just a corporate social responsibility and ethical matter: but also, a legal one.
At Procurri, we work alongside a dedicated specialist in Data Erasure: Blancco. Market leaders in their field, Blancco are a reputable and expert business in equipment data erasure. Approved by the NCSC, they adhere to the HMG IAS 5 standards and allow us to pass on the most comprehensive and secure data erasure possible.
Our engineers can process extremely high volumes of disk erasure from single PCs to large enterprise solutions. Every piece of equipment is erased to the same high standard and each comes with a certificate detailing data erasure to allow for a complete audit process and easy evidence of compliance should it ever be required.
